An airfoil carapace is a UNSC package deployment for parafoils.
History[]
The airfoil carapace is very resistant and hard, enabling a SPARTAN-II to perform a planetary atmospheric entry from high orbit. The equipment features hard points for armament to stop it from being lost during the entry. It can survive in the re-entry's extreme heat, and because of its specialized, classified nature, it cannot be used by regular members of the UNSC Armed Forces. Only when the terminal velocity has been finally reached above the surface of a planet, the carapace is deployed for a safe landing.
