Alexander "Alex" O'Hirn was a petty criminal under Carmine Falcone's Roman Empire who, after being beaten and captured by Batman several times, decided to serve as a test subject for a secret super soldier program, fusing him with the genotypes of a rhinoceros. The test went right, and by this time Alex became the Rhino, one of Batman's recurring, and physically imposing enemies.
