Antonio "Tony" Stark was the hero known as Iron Man and a member of the Ultimates, before retiring from heroism to become the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
History
Same as his Earth-1610 counterpart up to the events of Secret Wars.
Following extensive investigations into the actions of S.H.I.E.L.D. following the Cataclysm, in which Galactus nearly destroyed the Earth, the organisation was reinstated. However, Nick Fury's questionable history led to his being dismissed, and the search for a new director began. Tony decided to put his own name forward as a candidate for the job. Despite hesitancy from many members of the World Council, the strong support of several European leaders (thankful for his role in ending the Children of Tomorrow's conquest of Europe) and the greater public (who praised him for his 'superheroism') led to Tony being instated as the new Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Stark Shield Suit: A special suit based on an earlier design used by the Punisher, which greatly increases Tony's strength and speed. Unlike his armours, this suit is made from fabric, interlaced with nanotechnology to provide superhuman abilities, and adamantium fibres to make it bulletproof.
Former Equipment
Iron Man Armours: Several high-tech suits of armour designed and built by Tony for the purpose of helping to save people in his Iron Man identity.
- Although retired from his Iron Man identity, several of Tony's armours are in storage, in case they're ever needed.
