George Tarleton worked as a laboratory assistant to AIM before being used as a test subject for project MODOC (Mental Organism Designed Only for Computing), which caused his head to grow disproportionately from his body and giving him superhuman intelligence. He changed his name to MODOK (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing) and became AIM's leader.
