The Gotham City Police Department (GCPD), officially the City of Gotham Police Department, is the municipal force tasked with protecting Gotham City, New Jersey, from crime. Led by Commissioner James Gordon, the GCPD is heavily prepared against the hideous of criminals, and with the help of Batman, they also dealt with bigger criminals such as Metahumans. In the past, the department was plagued with corruption, but it was eradicated by Gordon and his most trusted men.

Founded in 1820, the GCPD acted as the policing force of Gotham City, New Jersey for many years until it took a turn of corruption, cemented by the city's growing corrupt forces.
