Gukko are docile and graceful hummingbird-like Rahi.
History[]
The history of the Gukko is the same as their mainstream counterparts.
Description[]
The Gukko is perceived to be a very beautiful creature by the Matoran, with a long graceful body and four slender wings. There exist two known subspecies; the Kahu and the Kewa. Gukko and Kahu can both accommodate two riders, while Kewa are noticeably smaller and can only carry one rider. The Rahi Taku, smaller still, is closely related to the Kewa.
Despite being known as peaceful creatures, Gukko are infamously difficult to train. The Le-Matoran tried for many centuries to ride the Rahi with no success. However, once they eventually were trained in Le-Koro, they were brave and loyal steeds. They are also known to effectively defend their nests from the dangerous Nui-Rama.
Trivia[]
- The word Gukko may actually have been an insult in the bird's language, as told by Rahaga Kualus.
- The word "Gukko" was originally Kahu and Kewa. However, due to a lawsuit by Māori activists, they were changed to Gukko. Strangely enough, the actual Kewa and Kahu models were different from the present Gukko's. This was rectified when the Kahu and Kewa were reintroduced to the canon as close relatives of the Gukko.
