The Elder Scrolls Film & Television Universe is a shared universe consisting of all the films and television shows based on the popular video games series The Elder Scrolls. Taking place in a separate canon to the video games, the Elder Scrolls Film & Television Universe consists largely of live action adaptations of games in the main franchise or historic events that are spoken of in the lore.
All content is produced by 20th Century Fox with Bethesda Softworks acting as a creative consultant on all projects. Both are subsidiaries of the Fox Disney Media company.

Bethesda Softworks, the owner of The Elder Scrolls franchise, was purchased by the Fox Disney company in 2012 in order to expand their holdings in the gaming industry. For the buyout had little effect on Bethesda and they simply continued to exist independently. In 2015, 20th Century Fox announced they were working alongside Bethesda to produce a movie based within The Elder Scrolls Universe. Despite the announcement this was no director attached to the project, no completed script and no actual set release date. Naturally, as a result of this, news of the film all but completely died down for the rest of the year.
In late 2016, coinciding with the release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Special Edition, Fox and Netflix were reported to be working on four different Elder Scrolls based Television series for the streaming service that would take place in a separate universe to the games, but the same universe as the upcoming movie. Todd Howard confirmed all of these reports to be true and that he would be serving as Executive Producer within 20th Century Fox for the upcoming Elder Scrolls Film & Television Universe.
